Carneros Vineyard

Our Wines

"We strive to make a wine that represent the diversity of this special spot in Carneros."

The shepherd wines began out of a desire to create wines that are high in quality with all estate fruit grown in the Napa Valley, but reasonably priced for everyday enjoyment.

Our white wine, Sauvignon Blanc, captures the vibrancy of the cool Carneros climate, while our Estate Red, a blend of Tempranillo, Syrah and Zinfandel, grows on hillsides and tops of our property to maintain its intensity, spice and robust flavors

2022 Shepherd Sauvignon Blanc

Winemaking: All of the fruit was picked cold and whole cluster pressed.  The juice was clarified and slowly fermented in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation the wine remained in tank on the lees (sur lie) for an additional 3 months. This wine was bottled in February 2023.

Wine Analysis: 13.9% alcohol • 3.36 pH • 6.6 g/l TA

Tasting Notes: Aromas of grapefruit and gooseberry; with hints of sweet pea and jasmine. The mouth is crisp and clean; with bright flavors of Key lime, guava, and lychee. Firm acidity provides a zesty finish of citrus, mineral, and spice.

2019 Shepherd Sauvignon Blanc

2020 Shepherd Estate Red

The Estate Red is a blend of Syrah, Zinfandel, and Tempranillo. These grapes were sourced from distinctly different sections of our Estate Vineyard. Each wine was vinified separately and aged for 12 months in French Oak barrels (30% new). Syrah was chosen for structure; Zinfandel contributes bright fruit flavors; and Tempranillo adds a unique spicy element. Combined, these varietals produce a playful, easy drinking red that is both fruity and complex. This wine was bottled in August of 2021.
